Windy walk, with fabulous light, on a late December day.
Wind, waves, sunsets and views. The perfect Boxing Day beach walk.
The weather today was too spectacular and just had to be shared. What started as a few flakes ended up as a proper snowfall. It is hard to explain how magical it is to walk on a snow covered beach with only the sound of falling snow and foghorns.

We decided to take an impromptu trip to the island this weekend. It had only been 16 days since the last trip, but the coast was calling. Everything aligned, I had a customer to meet in Vancouver, so it seemed like a fun thing to do.
Being such a quick trip we really didn’t focus on getting anything “done” on the house or yard. Instead we had a fun Saturday.
We went to the winery.
Picked up lunch at The Cafe at Large, a food truck that is located at Sea Star Winery during the summer months.
Checked out the new cidery on the island.
Spent the afternoon on the beach.
And went for an evening walk to watch the sunset.

Today was paddling day. The sun came out, the wind calmed down, and the waves of the previous days had disappeared. It was the perfect Pender Island day to spend on the water.
A day with so much to see: herons, eagles, a crab, starfish and seals. The kayak gives the opportunity to see things you can’t see from the shore.

It may have been a cold and blowy afternoon, but the scenery on South Pender Island was still gorgeous. We started out by visiting one of our favourite spots, Brooks Point. Here we walked the boardwalk, saw daffodils in bloom, walked on driftwood, and watched the whitecaps rolling in. We then visited Gowlland Point and were treated to a rainbow. The beaches were empty, so we had these beautiful spots to ourselves.
