I thought I could sneek in one more seasonal post as we are only in the first half of January.
Enroute to Pender Island we had to detour through Sidney on the ferry as the direct ferry to Pender was full. We decided to make a day of it in Victoria; we grocery shopped, hit the golf stores (very important!) and then decided to drive downtown before catching the ferry. In the downtown area the Parliament Building, that was built in 1890’s and houses the legislative assembly of British Columbia, was dressed for the festive Christmas season. It was quite a sight to see such a large building lit with Christmas lights. It seemed to be a popular destination as there were quite a lot of people walking the grounds and taking pictures. My favorite images are the ones that combine the lit building with the totems; it is an interesting contrast. According to various websites, the building is lit with between 3,300 and 3,500 Christmas lights.
